In today’s digital era, diagnostic laboratories require fast and reliable systems to manage test data and generate accurate reports. The Diagnostic Lab Reporting System addresses this need by offering a centralized web application built with the Django Framework (version 2.2 LTS). It ensures secure data handling, smooth workflow management, and professional-quality reporting to support the daily operations of labs.The system is role-based, bringing together Administrators, Diagnostic Admins, Staff Members, and Patients under a single platform. Each role is equipped with dedicated features—from managing diagnostic tests to generating and delivering reports—making the process more efficient, transparent, and user-friendly for everyone involved.

Key Functionalities

The system has been structured to support the complete lifecycle of diagnostic test management. The following features are included based on the project implementation:

1. System Admin Dashboard
   The super administrator manages overall system settings, user accounts, and has full control over all modules.
2. Diagnostic Admin Panel
   A dedicated interface for diagnostic center administrators to monitor test orders, approve/reject requests, manage diagnostic staff, and validate payments.
3. Staff Dashboard
   Staff members can log in to process test requests, manage pending and confirmed orders, and upload diagnostic reports directly into the system.
4. Patient/User Module
   Patients can register, log in, and view their reports online. They can also track the status of their diagnostic requests and make payments for pending tests.
5. Order and Report Management
   • Add and manage diagnostic test categories.
   • Upload and update patient reports.
   • Track pending, confirmed, and completed orders.
6. Secure Authentication
   Different login panels are available for each role:
   • System Admin Login
   • Diagnostic Admin Login
   • Staff Login
   • Patient/User Login
7. Payment Integration Support
   The system supports order validation, payment records, and due payment re-checking functionalities.

Application Flow

• Homepage: Provides users with login options and navigation to their respective panels.
• Diagnostic Admin Login: Dedicated for center administrators to manage the lab processes.
• Staff Login: Accessible to staff members for report uploads and order processing.
• User Login: Patients can securely log in to view and download their diagnostic reports.
• Report Generation: Reports are uploaded by staff and can be retrieved by patients anytime.

Step 1: Install Requirements

1. Install Python 3 (64-bit).
2. Install Visual Studio Code.
3. Install the Python extension in VS Code.

Step 2: Open Project in VS Code

1. Extract the project ZIP file.
2. Open the extracted folder in VS Code.

Step 3: Create Virtual Environment

Open terminal in VS Code (Ctrl + ~) and run:

python -m venv venv

Step 4: Activate Virtual Environment

venv\Scripts\activate

Step 5: Install Dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt

Step 6: Run the Server

python manage.py runserver
